Wireless High Speed Internet for Rural Central Oregon

Internet Connection Support

  • The Basic Setup
  •     We place an antenna and radio on your roof, point it at one of our towers and establish an Internet connection. We then run an ethernet cable from the radio to the room where your computer or router is located, connect to the power supply for our radio and plug into your computer or router. See a picture of our various antennas Here. The type of antenna we use at your location depends on whether we have line-of-sight to one of our towers.

  • What to Expect
  •     Your Yellowknife Wireless Internet connection should be always on, always fast and trouble free. From time to time, we perform upgrades and maintenance on our tower sites that may cause you to temporarily loose your connection. We do email all of our customers in advance of any planned tower work. If you're not sure we have a good email address on file for you, please update your contact information Here.

Yellowknife Wireless has a very secure network. In fact, it's so secure we might have to loosen your connection up a little to enable you to do certain things. If you are having trouble with a gaming device or establishing a VPN connection to a computer at another location, you may need a public IP address. Please call our office and we will help you with this.

  • If you ever experience an unanticipated Internet outage, unplug the radio power supply we installed in your house, count to five and plug it back in. If that doesn't resolve the issue, call our office at 541-385-0111. Remember that your Internet connection should be trouble-free. If you are having to power-cycle your equipment on a regular basis please call our office and we will help you resolve the issue.

Router Support

If your Yellowknife Internet is connected to a router in your home or office, you have the ability to use multiple computers on the Internet at the same time. If you have Yellowknife Phone Service, your Internet connection is plugged into our Phone Adaptor and your router (or computer) would be the second device. If you ever experience slow or no Internet on one of your computers, check to see if you are having the same problem with one of the other computers. If not, the issue is probably with that particular computer. If all of your computers have a slow or no Internet connection, unplug the power from the back of the router, count to five and plug it back in. If that doesn't resolve the issue, call our office at 541-385-0111 for technical support.

Basic Computer Connections

Yellowknife Wireless Company has experienced PC repair technicians (we do both Mac and Windows) and will be happy to diagnose your computer and network issues at NO Charge to you. If we find a problem with your computer, we will back up all of your data and repair the computer at a special Yellowknife Customer rate of $60.00 per hour. Even the worst issues can usually be resolved in three hours or less.

Most of us have either a Windows computer or an Apple computer; and either a Desktop or a Laptop. With a Desktop computer you normally connect to the Internet by plugging a cat5 ethernet cable into the back of it. With most Laptop computers you can also connect without the cable using the built-in WiFi card, but you need a Wireless Router directly attached to your Internet connection to accomplish this.

If your Desktop computer is having trouble getting on the Internet, reboot it. If your Laptop computer won't get on the Internet first make sure the WiFi card is turned on (on Windows Laptops there is usually a switch) and then make sure you have a connection to your Wireless Router.
